Pierre Vanneste

Pierre Vanneste is a photographer and filmmaker based between Brussels and Dakar, specializing in long-term projects. He questions the relationship that Human has with his environment as well as the social issues that arise from it. His work has been published in media such as Médiapart, Libération, DOC! photo magazine, Courrier International (web), Equal-Times or Alter Echo, Tchak! magazine. In 2018, he co-directed the first chapter of “Bargny, ici commence l’émergence”, a transmedia documentary (photos, videos and text) about a Senegalese fishing commune, located 35 km from Dakar, which is facing an industrial transformation of its territory as well as the consequences of climate change, the project will be among the finalists of the Visa d’Or de l’Information Numérique 2019 (Visa pour l’image festival).

His project “DREMMWEL” – released at the end of 2020 as a book and an exhibition linked to virtual reality augmented video content ( Yellow Now Edition in partnership with BLINKL) -, was exhibited at the Antwerp Museum of Photography, as part of the collective exhibition .tiff 2019 as well as at the documentary photography festival Track &Trace Kortrijk (2021). It is also presented at the Museum of Photography in Charleroi as part of its selection for the “18th National Open Photography Prize 2021” for which it received the Vedi Prize. In 2019, he received the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation photography grant for an ongoing long-term project .
