Pierre Vanneste is a Belgian photographer and filmmaker based between Brussels and Dakar, specializing in long-term documentary projects. His work primarily addresses issues related to the transformation of land and ways of life brought about by industrial development, approached in a global and systemic manner.

He is notably the co-author of Bargny, Here Begins the Emergence (2018), a transmedia documentary about a Senegalese fishing community facing industrial transformation and climate change, which was a finalist for the 2019 Visa d’Or for Digital News. In 2020, he released DREMMWEL, a hybrid creation presented as a medium-length film as well as a book and an exhibition enhanced with augmented video content. This work on fishing and overfishing has been showcased in several European museums and festivals, including the PhotoClimat Biennale in Paris 2025.

Winner of the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation photography grant for [P2O5] The Toxic Impact of Phosphate, he has since 2022 been pursuing various photographic and film projects in Senegal, combining investigation, storytelling, and visual creation.
