There is a species called fat, chubby or corpulent people, subdivided into more subtle categories. There’s no doubt about it, no surprise, no embarrassment, they are FAT. « First of all I met Daniel. I had very physical recollections of him: a dancer in the dark corners of night clubs, or a rebel on a motorbike. » With that discreet manner he has of never passing unnoticed. He talks of his body and his head, of the tricks he has to play in order to accept himself and be accepted. Tender and ironical. Then Rita: « You’ll recognize me, I’ll be dressed in blue, and I’m fat. » For her little girl of 8 years old she is the « prettiest mummy in the world ». She is violently opposed to slimming diets and she fights against al sorts of inegalities. Lucid and energetic. Next to Daniel and Rita, Arlette and Patricia, two young women. Like all over-weight people they searched for slimming doctors. Money grabbers. Arlette never revolted. Patricia is contented the way she is. If people don’t want to look at her, they don’t have to look at her. Bu who is fat, and how does one get fat?
