Heads against the wall

Bénédicte Liénard & 52/91' — 1997

This film was shot from the summer of ’95 to the winter of ’97. It follows the lives of 4 adolescents, all institutionalised and placed under court protection. Adopting the young peoples’ viewpoint, the film underscores the dichotomy between their words and those of the institutions that surround them. It puts the accent on the rupture between justice and the reality of those it seeks to help. Have the institutions lead Christelle, Grégory, Manu and Gaël towards adulthood and independence, or made dependent beings of them?
