Hamlet or the Metamorphosis of Acting

Eric Pauwels & 47' — 1986

Hamlet or the Metamorphosis of Acting is an experience about the state of consciousness of the actor at play. Paul Anrieu plays in front of the camera Hamlet’s famous “To Be or Not to Be” monologue. The first take is shot in sober conditions, then, before each one of the eight next shots, Paul Anrieu drinks two glasses of alcohol, until exhaustion.
