Cécile Mavet

Born in Paris in 1983, Cécile Mavet was raised in both France and the United States. After studying literature at the Sorbonne, she worked at Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, NY, USA), where she directed her first short films. She then enrolled at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Belgium, where she earned a master’s degree in fiction filmmaking. Her graduation short subject, L’Appel (2011, fiction) is internationally renowned and has won numerous awards, particularly for her ability to illustrate inner life through film. She then embarked on a long-term project to meet women who had dedicated their lives to spirituality. This ten-year adventure, in which she has combined her own inner reflection and her work as a filmmaker, will culminate in the production of her first feature film, Wild Women (2022, documentary), produced by Dérives.
