Ultrasound scan

Thomas de Thier & 44' — 2002

Prenatal ultrasound scans are a way of seeing if everything is going well for the baby growing in the mother’s belly. Open-air ultrasound scanning is the process in reverse. It consists in showing the foetus how things work in the outside world into which he/she will soon emerge. Thomas de Thier and Sophie Museur perfected this revolutionary procedure in the film about the waiting period before the birth of their first child. This is a tender look at the meaning of having children today and at the perilous transition from couple to family.
