While are shown some images of a park in summer, a voice tells fragments from jean Genet’s « Four hours at Chatila ». The stillness of the sunny park is invaded by a succession of men and women strolling alone, in twos or with their family. There are children playing in it. This series of portraits, these black and white shots of oldies resembling some newspaper stills, centre around the statue of a sphinx whose immobility accounts for the film’s significance. Given the simple but also violent contrast between what is seen and what is said, the film proves a halt, an attempt to stop the abundance of information which neutralizes horror.
