This film offers us a glimpse of Pol Bury, an unusual and protean artist obsessed with a single idea, the perception of time flowing. Various woven interviews of close friends (Alechinsky, André Balthazar, Velma Bury, Adrien Maegh…) enable us to understand the path of an artist who took part in three fundamental artistic movements in Belgium’s 20th century: surrealism, CoBrA, and Lettrism and Pataphisics. Three different movements tinted with a common irreverent and casual spirit, an endless search for renewal and freedom from constraints. In short, the Bul way of thinking that André Balthazar defined as « a way of loosing one’s balance (…), a way of saying enough, without saying to much ». A definition that filmmaker Arthur Ghenne applies to his film through glimpses filled with wry wit and superimpressions of testimonies with images of Bury’s works, offering us – with humour – the different evolutions of the artist’s work.
