Antoinette, 41 rue du Phénix

Agathe Corniquet & 57' — 2019

Antoinette, a 86-year-old woman, is my grand-mother. Though surrounded by a lot of friends who often visit her, she cannot bear the growing feeling of loneliness. Considering that it might be the most suitable solution to her problem, she decides to move to a house for elderly people. As she hears of vacancy there, everything seems to go too fast for her while her sons and the rest of her family make arrangements for the house removal. Facing her choice, I am also questioning it. Is it the right solution? Will she feel better in this new environment? Is it too late to change her mind? As the house becomes empty, the grieving process reluctantly starts. The film tells about the intensity and brutality of this wrench, displaying discussions between the two women, one grandmother and her granddaughter who are getting closer all along this ordeal.
