Olivier Hespel was born in Paris, France, and trained at the INSAS films school in Brussels, Belgium.
He now shares his time between film making, sound recording on fiction and documentary features and cinema teaching at the Brussels university and the INSAS film school.

He has been working with – among others – Abbas Kiarostami, Costa-Gavras, Claire Simon, Nicolas Philibert, Marianna Otero, Mehdi Charef, Pierre Schœller, Rachid Bouchareb, Benoît Mariage.
He has been rewarded by a french Cesar, a belgian Magritte,and nominated for a french Cesar and a portugese Sophia.

He has been a founding member and producer in the belgian production company
« Comme Un Essaim » in the 90’s.
He is now an associate in the parisian post-production company « Archipel » and founding member and director/producer in the french production company « Loudun 2000 », located in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes area.
