The little man from Binche

Jan Vromman & 32' — 1992

« Mardi Gras » in Binche, a little town in Belgium. A thousand men, all born in Binche, go out in the streets to call for the return of spring; they’ll renew their splendid every year. They all wear the same costume, the same mask, they all bear the same name; Gille. They dance with their double hunch, striking the ground with their clogs to the rhythm of the drums. They will dance around the clock, from one night to the next. Among them, the little man carries in his heart something precious that illuminates yours.
