The last time out

Gérard Rivoalan & 50' — 1996

This film takes place on an island off the Brittany coast: the island of Ouessant, whose treacherous currents and hull-ripping rocks have claimed hundreds of ships since the beginning of the century. It tells the story of the « Skipper François Morin », the islander’s lifeboat, designed to rescue seafarers in distress and carry the sick and wounded to the continent. It is also a tribute to the bravery of the island’s volunteer rescue crew, who risk their lives every time they respond to a call. After 35 years of service and hundreds of lives saved, the old lifeboat must make way for a new, more modern vessel. But the islanders and crew are attached to the boat, and don’t want to see her go…
