The island where « l'âge d'or » sleeps

Isabelle Dierckx & 52/90' — 2004

This is the story of a journey on three of the Spanish Canary Islands. The film unfolds on three canvases and stats with the search for the reels of Luis Bunuel’s film, « Age of Gold », which were buried on Gran Canaria ar the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. As the journey progresses, we discover the « pagan » charm of the islands and their tendency to disctance themselves from realism, as if they were in some way enchanted by Bunuel’s film, buried in their soil. But this enchantment is counterbalanced by the ups and downs caused by the chaotic development of tourism.
