Hawaii, 4:30 p.m. The Summit of Mauna Kea. Altitude: 4,200m. Marie-Claire, an observing assistant, hurriedly strides the machine rooms of a giant telescope. In a few minutes, she will open the dome. A long night’s work begins. The sky is clear. Marie-Claire is confident. Chile, 4 a.m. La Silla. Altitude: 2700 m. Olivier, a comet specialist, analyzes the superb pictures generated by the ESO (European Southenr Observatory) telescope. The Hale-Bopp comet is moving away from the earth. Olivier smiles. Marie-Claire and Olivier got married in Belgium in 1989, for etter and or worse. With 12,000 km between them, today they share heir love of the sky over the internet or by telephone. Nevertheless, they find an opportunity to be together for a few days… before each of them returns to their window on the universe. « Star Chasers » is a story hat takes place at two ends of the world at once. We penetrate the impressie scinetific sanctuaries, where their telescopes are housed, enter into the ryhtem of their work, and share the doubts and hopes of this singular and engaging couple… A story between heaven and earth.
