Although the film is a topical documentary video it is also a film of fiction and love. The titles is a clear reference to Pierre Michel, a spinner of exacting images, a somewhat unobtrusive observer and voyeur, strangely bent on defying and provoking. A film crammed with magic signs. As a spinner and a schemer he is also an unremitting organizer. His activity is exuberant and neverending: sheer pleasure in observing, writing, reading, scripting and filming; in painting. Taking pleasure also in describing and profusely displaying its functioning. In this film, there are no chats with the painter, nor is there any live painting, as the work and the expended energyare the only things that are left. The character in this film is not an actor in the sense this word has acquired in « cinematic fiction », but rather somebody having his own ambitions and desires, someone functioning as an individual and trying to realize things. It is basically a film about Pierre Michel, a private desperately tracking his own shadow, an exploring trip resumed by the producer without Michel’s authorization, and in her wake by all members of the film crew, curiously probing and phantoming the depths of this « illustrious soul »
