Pascal bernier : the plastic syndrome

André Goldberg & 26' — 2001

A colourful documentary upon the Belgian artist Pascal Bernier. Legacy of Duchamp, Warhol and of the baroque painting from the 17th century, the belgian artist Pascal Bernier introduces a touch of humanism and humour into conceptual art to which he is referring. The work of Pascal Bernier moves, disrupts, provokes laughs or gives you the creeps. The photographer and film director André Goldberg focused on the way in which Pascal Bernier re-examines the history of our century as well as the history of the arts. The paintings and sculptures created by Pascal Bernier contribute to reflect the image of our distress in facing this world, in an ingenious and perverse mixture of fear and amusement.
