At the begining of the 20 th century, in a rural world degenerated by exploitation and injustice, the bresilian bandit Lampião was the revolted man who broke all the rules to build his own destiny. Despite his infamous cruelty, he became a legend, a symbol of courage and freedom. His strong personnality, who always refused concessions, lead to a tragic end. Mixing story and imagination, this documentary portrays the ambiguous Lampião as told by the inhabitants of his natal Sertão. Through him, it is the frights and hopes of a population that are told. Until today everybody continues to take part in the building of the legend of Lampião, as it offers a precious space for freedom.
