Flash sonar, quand les oreilles voient

Hélène Motteau & 40' — In progress

Among the tourists by the sea, Thomas wanders, with his fast pace and fluid body. He is easily confused with passers-by, but he is with its “click” and his white cane that he is recognized.
In recent years, Thomas has discovered echolocation (an empowering spatialization technique that involves emitting sound “clicks” to hear their echoes, comparable to bat sonar); thanks to it he moves alone and lives independently. He even became an echolocation teacher.
Through him, the film goes to meet Ulysses, a blind child who will take his first steps in echolocation, and also Pia and Julien, two young visually impaired adults who wish to deepen their practice of echolocation. Through their learning, it is a world that opens up to us and a huge vertigo that emerges for them: how to learn to locate themselves essentially by sound? Learn to move your fears and trust yourself?
And how do we, the sighted, the visually impaired, the way is our relationship with the world built?
By learning to see without vision, the film plunges us into the great bath of our perceptions, and leads us to become aware of the subjectivity of our relationship to the world.
