« Family, me neither » is an immersion into the daily lives of families at the mothers shelter (maison maternelle) Fernand Philippe. Set in the Belgian region of Charleroi, the mothers shelter is a home for distressed mothers and their children. For many of these women, the passage into the mothers shelter marks a break from their previous existence. It is a space where women can rest before starting to rebuild their lives. Living in a community is all about confrontation, exacerbation, permission. Through chosen moments of this life in transition, the film shows the ambivalence between love and violence, mourning and hope, pain and resilience. In their first feature documentary, Boris Finn and María Castillejo Carmen take a lucid though discreet glimpse behind the scene on these families re-weaving the story of their life.
