María studied law in Valencia before leaving Spain and moving to Brussels. In Brussels, María studied the technical aspects of cinematography at INRACI (Institute of Radio Electronics and Cinematography, Brussels), focusing on image. It is within this framework that she directed her first short films. After graduating in 2010, she directed “(I am) Unhappy” which has achieved some success in festivals (the short film has received several awards for Best First Professional Work and as Best Foreign Short Film). Her first medium-length documentary ”Familiy, me neither” obtained the support of Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, la SABAM, AG Insurance, Fondation Roi Baudouin, and CBA.
