Julia Clever

Julia Clever studied social psychology and anthropology in Germany before coming to Brussels in 1997. After her master in audiovisual arts at the RITCS she worked as a  videographer in theaters in Brussels and Flanders, creating stage projections and live video performances on stage. From 2009 till 2012, Julia developed political documentary theater with her Tocht theater collective. As she has always been fascinated by collective processes, Julia documented processes of socio-artistic groups. Between 2012 and 2014, she did ethnographic searches on the role of the German in the Belgian reconstitutions of war and created the multi-screen installation “Devoir de mémoire”. Since 2014, Julia Clever is a researcher at the Royal Institute of Theatre, Cinema and Sound in Brussels and a teacher since 2017. This is her first author film since her audiovisual studies.
